Student Exhibitions & Accomplishments

 

The 2009 Rickert Ziebold Trust Award winners are Grant Cox, Josh Ingold, and Jason Watts.

Eunsoon Seo and Brandon Smith are recipients of the 2009 Celine A. Chu Memorial Scholarship.

Sculpture students placed 2nd to a continuous copula by 10 seconds at Sloss Furnaces, beating out 10 other schools. 

 

Abby Gitlitz was named the Excellence Through Commitment Outstanding Graduate Assistant Teaching in the the University Core Curriculum at SIUC.

Christine Holuj, double major in painting and art education, is one of the University's 25 Most Distinguished Seniors.

Jake Wells has work in the group show, "Rock Paper Scissors," at the Estel Gallery in Nashville, TN. Jarrod Houghton, MFA '02, also has work in this show.

Christopher Scamehorn, MFA student in Ceramics, received Honorable Mention in Fine Art Finals Midwest Regional Collegiate Scholarship Competition .

Merry Lanker's proposal, "Art and Literature: Establishing a Connection Between Reading and Art," was accepted for inclusion in the program of presentations for the 2009 NAEA National Convention to be held in Minneapolis, MN, in April 2009.

Matthew Schultz, MFA candidate, and Grant Cox, BFA '09, were part of a group exhibition, “Varsity Art XIII,” at the Art Saint Louis Gallery, March 3-13, 2009, at 555 Washington Avenue in downtown St. Louis.  For their thirteenth annual group exhibition, Art Saint Louis invited art faculties from 16 Midwest regional colleges and universities to select one or two outstanding art students to exhibit work in this curated exhibit.  Presented as a collaborative project, students worked together on all aspects of the exhibition.  Go to the link,  http://www.artstlouis.org/current.html, to see Matt and Grant’s work as well as that of other exhibitors.

Matt Schiemann, MFA candidate in Ceramics, received a residency in St. Petersburg, FL, beginning in August 2009 for 2 years at the St. Petersburg Clay Co.

Amy Chase received a Student Niche Award for 2009 in the Sculptural Ceramics category.
